You might assume web design is a simple task. Well, there are several web designers who are ingenious and skillful at web design. But not all of them can effectively coordinate with clients. Design work goes through a lot of stages, and each phase requires the customer’s agreement before moving forward. It is therefore of the essence to have unmistakable project management so as to set the blueprint accurately during the design phase previous to beginning with implementation or development.

A clear-thinking project manager who can take steps promptly and who has the technical as well as communication skills can bridge the web designer and the client. The project manager will bring gaps into the design progression to zero, so the project flows through without delay and fluidly. Here are 4 ways to successful web design project management.

Generate Project Sheet. The project sheet is basically a chart of all the deliverables of the project and the time of delivery. The project manager will create this sheet and send it to customer and the web designer. It will indicate all the design features approved upon and when these will be delivered. The client needs to understand that he is to sign-off every phase of the project clearly and on time.

Communicate Sign-Offs Clearly. The client will necessitate to sign-off at various design stages. The sign-off has to be unambiguous. Expressions similar to OK TO PROCEED or APPROVED, PROCEED TO NEXT STEP which cannot be misguided for anything else are effective. Also, the project manager should clearly communicate the timeframe for the sign-offs. With no proper timeframe the project can drag on. Lastly, the project manager should also communicate the result to the customer for every deferral. For example, he can say that the project may be shelved in the interim if he does not receive a response from the customer within a period of time.

Be Unyielding Regarding The Project Scope. A first-rate project manager is an outstanding customer relations officer. But he is also firm regarding the deliverables to the client as declared in the project scope, which the customer decided to from the very beginning. For instance, if the project scope permits three revisions and revamps, and the customer required additional revisions, then the project manager will clarify to the client that there will be added cost for the additional work this calls for.

Most significantly, the project manager promotes a mutually enjoyable and expert project experience for both the customer and the web designer. To accomplish this, he puts in place a clear project scope that evidently and objectively specifies the deliverables. He also ensures that both him and the client comprehend subjective design basics in the same conditions. So there will be zero suprise when a design facet is all set for sign-off.
